What Are the Best Exercises for Muscle Gain?

With the numerous amount of exercises you could spend your time doing, which ones should you do? When it comes to building muscle, there are a few exercises you should consider adding to your workout routine.

1. Deadlifts

One of the most effective overall body exercises there is. When done correctly, deadlifts will result in some massive gains. Just make sure you start out light so you can perfect your form. Although this is a great exercise, done incorrectly and it can lead to painful injuries.

2. Squat

Just like the deadlift, squats are a staple to any workout routine of any serious about gaining muscle. Your legs make up a big percentage of your body so working them out only makes sense. Just like the deadlift, you’ll want to make sure you use good form so start light if necessary and build your way up.

3. Bench Press

If you’re lifting weights, there’s a 99.99% chance you’re already doing these. Some people just do them way too much. Focus on good form and remember to concentrate the tension in your chest by squeezing them at the top of the motion.

4. Pullups / Chin Ups

One of the most basic workout moves, pullups will work mainly your lats and arms. If you can’t do many of these, use the assisted pullup machine. If you’re able to do more than 12, add a weight belt to increase the difficulty. Use good form and remember to squeeze at the top.


These aren’t the only exercises that will give you massive gains but they’re the most tested ones. You can add other exercises if you want but do these first.

Again, keeping good form is crucial. Forget about your ego. You could lift more with bad form but you’ll only be hurting your progress in the long run.
